Picture of How It All Happened

The story begins in Jefferson City, MO. Hope had just returned home for the summer from her second year at Louisiana State University studying Sport Administration. During the summer home she started an internship with the Jefferson City Renegades Collegiate Summer League baseball team.

Shane, hailing from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, had graduated from the University of Arkansas at Monticello with his undergraduate degree in Health & Physical Education in 2020. He continued his education starting his masters program while continuing to play baseball for the school. And for three summers had played for the JC Renegades summer team after finding out about them through a graduate assistant on his baseball team.

Hope had no clue that one of the players on the team was from Baton Rouge until she started working on the social media posts for the team. Once she and Shane met, they became friends, mostly because of their shared love of Baton Rouge and the LSU Tigers.

They shared summer adventures with other members of the baseball team and interns for the organization, all becoming fast friends and enjoying a fun-filled summer. Toward the end of their 2+ months of hanging out Hope and Shane both realized that there may be something more than friendship between them. However, Hope was due to return to LSU in the Fall and she thought that Shane would be returning to Monticello to continue his education with his Masters program.

As fate would have it though, Shane was actually headed back to Baton Rouge and would continue his studies online. This then opened the door for them to go on some dates once they returned to Louisiana.

After many of those dates and several LSU football games together, Hope and Shane decided to officially become a couple. Over the next two years and many, many, more football games, there have been tons of accomplishments. Shane graduated in December 2022 with his masters degree and Hope graduated with her undergrad degree in May of 2023.

In November 2023, while Hope's family was in Baton Rouge for Thanksgiving, Shane asked her mom and dad if they would give him their blessing to marry Hope. Of course, they said yes...then immediately they found out that he had been in cahoots for about a month with Hope's big sister, Natalie, to plan this conversation. Then in December with his parent's blessing, her parent's blessing, and of course, big sister Natalie's blessing, Shane purchased the ring. Again, in cahoots with Natalie, they devised a plan to take Hope back to the place where it all began. On December 28th, on the Renegades baseball field, Shane popped the question.

Shane and Hope are excited to start their life together and have even recently closed on their first home in Louisiana.
